Winston Churchill – Speech of 1941

“Kelly says “We’ll win by being conservatives from…the heart”

“We’re on the February 2nd ballot and we’re in this race to win. We’re going to give the people of Illinois one helluva campaign – a campaign to reform state government and redefine and rebuild the Republican party in the process.”

“My two primary opponents have engaged in a vicious campaign already that – among other things – have been telling people I’m not on the ballot or that I’m going to withdrawal. Obviously, December 3 is the last day to withdrawal and we have no intention of doing so – far from it. One of my opponents has even gone so far as to secure endorsements by deceiving people and telling them I’m withdrawing from the race even though he knows it isn’t true. The politics of deception – that has no place in the Republican party or the Illinois conservative movement.”

“Yet, still, in the face of these things, our campaign is gaining momentum. People are discovering my history of anti-tax activism on behalf of families and small business and they know that I’m for real. That makes me extremely confident in our team and our message and that is how we will win: by being real conservatives from the heart. We will not only stand up for our conservative principles but we will also show that conservatives are people that real people – from construction workers and housewives to policemen and college students – can relate to and root for. And that is something that I am very proud of.”

William J. Kelly is running on a platform to be Illinois’ first “activist” comptroller. He is the former executive director of the National Taxpayers United of Illinois. He is also an entrepreneur with an Emmy award-winning TV production company and currently hosts the multi-state sports TV series, “Sportsaholic.” For information, visit
