Last night, Rahm Emanuel’s closest allies Bruce Rauner and Mark Kirk secured his re-election to a second term as Mayor of the City of Chicago. In doing so, they led good GOP voters astray.
It has been painful to watch good Republican voters support a politician like Rahm in his ruthless rise to power. The national political implications of this have yet to be felt.
Since the election, a number of Republicans have told me that I should just accept Rahm’s influence and control of our Illinois Republican Party.
However, in good conscience, I cannot.
Instead, I will work to take the Illinois Republican Party back from Rahm Emanuel so Illinois will once again have a two-party system.
